Focus On The Good

Did you know that our life experiences are created by how we think and how we think was programmed by the people who influenced us as children? When we were children, the adults around us imposed their ways of thinking upon us and we innocently adopted those ways of thinking. Now that we are adults, I’m sure all of us can find of examples of how our families’ ways of thinking did not serve us well. The unfortunate case for most of us is that these beliefs that were imposed upon us have become an invisible part of our daily operating system that we don’t even question or realize is there. It’s when we start having problems in life that we need to dig deeper into our personal operating systems and find those beliefs that limit us and no longer serve us. (If you need help with this, reach out to me!) Once we bring them to the light and prove them to be false, we then have the joy of creating a new belief to reprogram our operating system! This is true empowerment! As adults, we no longer have to be victim to the thoughts and belief systems implanted in us by our families and teachers, we get to choose what to believe and what thoughts serve us best! That my friends, is true adulting! That is also the formula for a living your best life. You can’t have the life you want until you change how you think and You are the only one in control of how you think.

Another step in the process of changing your thought patterns is learning how to shift what you focus on. It’s human nature to focus hard on everything that’s wrong so that we can try to fix it. However, The most effective way to fix what’s wrong is to simply shift your focus to everything that’s right. I often tell my clients who come to a coaching session prepared to dump all their problems, “Tell me what’s going right in that situation. Tell me the good things about it.” When you find the gratitude for everything that’s right, you are taking the magnification away from the perceived problems. What you focus on gets bigger so why not try focusing on everything that’s good and right? You’ll soon start to see the problems get smaller and smaller and you can wave bye-bye to them in the rearview!

“And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing…Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.” Philippians 4:8

In other words, Be A Sunflower and always keep your thoughts in the light!🌻
